F45 is one of the fastest growing fitness franchises in the world with franchisees spread across the globe. Born in Australia, F45 Training combines elements of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), circuit training, and functional training. The variation of workout programming keeps members challenged, eager to grow and ready to have fun.

F45 Gym Shepherd’s Bush in Wood Lane, White City, London is one of more than thirty F45’s open or opening soon in the UK and the largest purpose-built F45 studio in Europe.

F45 Training workouts are designed to unify muscle groups of the body to help you move and feel stronger in all aspects of your life: the F stands for functional training, a mix of circuit and HIIT-style workouts geared towards everyday movement; 45 is the total amount of time for each class of sweat-dripping, heart-pumping fun.

Project Brief

The brief for F45 Gym was to design, supply and install a foreground music system in the main gym and workout studio with line input panels for portable music devices and radio microphones for class instructors, as well a dedicated connection point for DJs to plug in and perform as required for certain hi-octane weekly classes.

We were also tasked with supplying a background music system for the public areas including the entrance, reception and bar areas, corridors and changing rooms.

System Solution

We opted for six powerful Martin Audio Blackline X8 loudspeakers for the main studio, wall-mounted three per side, and enhanced with a pair of Martin Audio Blackline X115 sub bass loudspeakers that were flown above the studio from the centre of the ceiling to deliver crystal clear, detailed audio at high sound pressure levels to keep classes motivated and moving. Certain classes even bring in a DJ! Class instructors using headset radio mics easily connect to the system to be heard over and above the music.

Weather-resistant Martin Audio CDD5TX loudspeakers are installed in the changing rooms to allow for the steamy atmosphere, reducing speaker degradation over time.

Remote wall panels allow instructors and staff to route audio sources and control music volumes in different zones, as required, whilst a custom GUI installed on a Lenovo touchscreen PC at the reception desk allows full control of the music system.
