The Event

A celebration of the hundreds of student leaders and volunteers who have dedicated tens of thousands of hours to leading, defending and enriching Jewish life on campus, the Annual Student Awards Dinner, hosted at The Marriott Hotel in Regents Park sees over 200 people turn out to celebrate and recognise Jewish student contributions to community and campus life.

Knights, Peers and NUS Vice Presidents were joined by representatives of CST, UJIA, the Alan Senitt Memorial Trust, Chaplaincy, the Jewish Leadership Council, and the President and Vice Presidents of the Board of Deputies. Over 100 students were nominated for nine different awards celebrating outstanding contributions to different areas of Jewish student life.

The UJS asked Sound Division to provide technical production services including the provision for dressing the existing in-house stage, sound reinforcement, video and lighting and content pre-production services.

Production Services

The sound system for this event included an ‘almost invisible’ autocue at the lectern which was positioned at the front of the room for the evening’s speeches. The lectern also features two discreet AKG C747 condenser microphones.

Audio from the lectern, additional Shure Q-LXD radio microphone systems, the video and presentations were routed to and engineered using a Yamaha LS9 digital mixing desk playing out through d&b E-series loudspeakers. Additional compact E8 loudspeakers from d&b were used as infills on each side down the length of the room.

Presentations and showreels for the evening, containing slides, video and audio content were managed with QLab software running two separate Apple Mac Book Pros with the video playback and presentations displayed on the in-house projector and screen and played out through the audio system.

A playlist of music tracks was provided by the UJS so each award winner was accompanied by a dedicated track of their choosing as they walked up to receive their award.

A Zero88 Juggler lighting desk with a number of preset lighting scenes, controlled twenty-four Chauvet Well Fit LED uplighters and four Source 4 profile spots lanterns, supported on a discrete tank trap and scaffolding lighting rig, to illuminate the stage for speakers and presentations and provide ambient lighting.
